This one is free and forgets everything. TatvaBooks doesn't.

Recurring invoice templates, payment tracking, automatic overdue reminders, e-invoice IRN/QR generation, and GST returns built straight from your invoices — all from the same books.

How to use it

Three steps to a printable invoice.

1. Fill in your business and client details

Enter your business name, GSTIN (optional but recommended for a proper tax invoice) and state, then the same for your client. The state fields matter — they decide whether GST is split into CGST+SGST (same state) or charged as IGST (different states).

2. Add line items and pick a GST rate

Add each item or service with a description, HSN/SAC code, quantity and rate. The generator computes the line amount automatically. Choose the applicable GST rate (0%, 0.25%, 3%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%) — most services fall under 18%, but goods vary widely by HSN chapter.

3. Print or save as PDF

The right-hand panel updates live as you type. When it looks right, click Print / Save as PDF — your browser's print dialog opens with only the invoice (not the form) formatted for printing. Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination to download it instead of printing.

Frequently asked questions

Invoice generator — common questions.

Is this invoice generator free, and does it save my data?
Yes, it's completely free with no sign-up required. Nothing you type — business details, client details, or line items — is saved or sent anywhere. Everything runs in your browser, so if you close or refresh the page, the data is gone. For invoices you want to keep, track and re-use, use TatvaBooks instead.
How does it decide between CGST+SGST and IGST?
The generator compares your business's state to your client's state. If both are in the same state, the GST amount is split equally into CGST and SGST (each at half the selected rate) — this is an intra-state supply. If the states differ, the full GST amount is charged as IGST — an inter-state supply. This follows the standard place-of-supply logic under GST.
Can I use this for a GST-compliant tax invoice?
This generator produces a clean invoice with the fields GST rules typically require — seller and buyer details, GSTIN (if entered), invoice number and date, HSN/SAC codes, and the CGST/SGST/IGST break-up. However, it does not generate an e-invoice IRN/QR code where e-invoicing is mandatory for your turnover slab, and it does not check GSTIN validity. For full GST compliance including e-invoicing, use dedicated GST billing software.
How do I save the invoice as a PDF?
Click 'Print / Save as PDF', then in your browser's print dialog choose 'Save as PDF' (or 'Microsoft Print to PDF' on Windows) as the destination instead of a physical printer. The preview panel is formatted to print cleanly — the form fields on the left are hidden automatically.
What if I need to send this invoice every month, or track whether it's paid?
This tool is meant for a quick one-off invoice — it doesn't remember anything between visits. If you're invoicing regularly, you'll want recurring invoice templates, payment status tracking, automatic reminders for overdue invoices, and GST return data pulled straight from your invoices — that's what TatvaBooks is for.
