For freelancers & solopreneurs
You're a designer, not an accountant. We agree.
TatvaBooks Solo is free forever. Send GST invoices, track expenses, and keep return-ready books — without a CA on speed dial or an Excel sheet with formulas you don't trust.
What's in Solo
Everything a freelancer needs. None of what they don't.
Send your first invoice in 90 seconds
Pick a template, fill in client and amount, hit send. We add your GSTIN, HSN and the full tax breakup — automatically. Most freelancers raise their first invoice within their first session.
GST without a Google search
Once you've raised invoices and recorded a few expenses, your figures roll up GST-correct — sales, purchases and the ITC from your GSTR-2B, reconciled. Your return summary is ready to review and file on the portal. No tutorial needed — but we have one if you want it.
Return-ready books your CA can file from
Your invoices, expenses and bank entries post to proper double-entry books — so when advance-tax or ITR time comes, your CA works from clean numbers, not a shoebox.
Expense tracking that doesn't feel like homework
Record every business expense against the right head — travel, software subscriptions, internet, office rent — and attach the bill to the entry. The legitimate deductions freelancers usually lose to messy paperwork stay on the books.
Never miss a GST deadline
TatvaBooks tracks your filing due dates and emails you before they're due — and again if one slips past. One less thing to keep in your head between projects.
Free. Genuinely free.
No card, no expiring trial, no 'free up to 10 invoices' catch. The Solo plan is what we'd want if we were freelancing. We make money from businesses big enough to need our paid plans.
How Solo is built
Three solo workflows it's designed around.
TatvaBooks is in private beta — we're not parading testimonials yet. Here's how Solo is built to handle the three most common freelancer patterns we've seen.
Designer
Monthly-billing flow: raise each client's invoice for the cycle, record it GST-correct, and have the period's sales roll up into a ready-to-review return. Built so a freelancer with eight monthly clients can run their accounting in a single review session.
Developer
Overseas-client workflow: record your export income and the expenses against it in clean, drill-downable books, so your CA can produce an ITR without rebuilding your books from scratch.
Consultant
Expense capture: record each bill against the right expense head and attach the document to the entry. The legitimate expenses freelancers usually lose to messy paperwork stay on the books.
Pricing
₹0 forever. No card. No catch.
If you outgrow Solo — say you hire someone, add inventory, or start payroll — you can upgrade to Business at ₹599/month. Until then, Solo is yours, free.

Common questions
What freelancers usually ask first.
As a freelancer you supply services, so registration becomes mandatory once your annual turnover crosses ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in special-category states). The higher ₹40 lakh limit applies only to suppliers of goods, so it rarely affects freelancers. Below the limit it's optional — but worth doing if your clients are GST-registered businesses, because they can claim ITC on your invoices. TatvaBooks works whether or not you're registered.
